Market Overview
The report provides tire type cost indices for several tire types in three main regions: the United States, Europe, and Asia. The indices are compiled using prices or estimated prices on a $ or € per ton basis for the various raw materials. For each raw material index, the price level of that raw material is divided by the average price in Q1 2007 and multiplied by 100. The Chemical Market Analytics Tire Cost Indices use a typical tire formulation for each region. The index covers the costs of raw materials that are used in the production of tires and does not include any processing or manufacturing costs associated with producing or distributing the tire. In the monthly report, a brief market update is provided for all raw material categories, such as natural and synthetic rubbers, carbon black, polyester and nylon fibers, steel, and silica, as well as an update in the energy markets, such as naphtha and crude oil.
