Fibers - Natural and Man-Made

Fibers – natural and man-made refer to materials that are much longer than their width. They are typically used to manufacture other materials, often times being woven or compressed together and also combined with other materials. Examples of natural fibers would be wood fibers (pulp), wool, cotton and silk. Man-made, or synthetic fiber examples, would be polyester, nylon, and carbon fiber.
