Isobutanol

Isobutanol is produced via the carbonylation of propylene, and can also be produced from sugars via biosynthesis, just like ethanol. Isobutanol is used as a solvent and to manufacture various esters which are commonly used as plasticizers. Technology is being developed to combine bio isobutanol and ethanol into sustainable fuels.
