Expandable Polystyrene (EPS)

Expandable polystyrene (EPS)

Expandable polystyrene (EPS) is a very small polystyrene pellet that is permeated with a blowing agent, typically pentane. The EPS beads are expanded by molders, which use steam to form large blocks and different shapes for a diverse set of applications ranging from insulation to coffee cups. Many people mistakenly refer to EPS and other foamed polystyrene as Styrofoam, which is DuPont’s brand of extruded polystyrene for the construction market.

Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) is the second-largest styrene derivative, comprising 22% of global styrene demand.
