Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH)

Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH)

Ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymer is a specialty product produced by hydrolysis of ethylene vinyl acetate. EVOH provides superior gas barrier properties and is used in fragrances and cosmetics and in multilayer films for food packaging in products such as mayonnaise and ketchup. It is consumed into blow-molded rigid containers used in a variety of products such as cups and trays, fuel tanks, animal feed containers, stain-resistant wallpaper, and construction materials. It is also used as a vacuum insulation panel in large refrigerators and as a plastic substitute for metal pipes in floor heating systems.
