Raffinate 1

Raffinate 1

Raffinate 1 refers to the isobutylene and butene rich stream obtained after the separation of butadiene from a steam cracker C4 rich stream. Raffinate 1 is then usually processed in either an MTBE unit that reacts the isobutylene with methanol or in an alkylation unit with isobutane to consume both isobutylene and all the other butenes.
