Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is a monomer mainly used to produce poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). PMMA is transparent and is also known as acrylic glass with many trade and brand names. PMMA is lightweight and shatter resistant. The main production route for MMA is mostly from acetone, hydrogen cyanide, and methanol. Other routes are also used.
