Flat glass refers to glass used mainly in applications such as architectural glass, windows, and car windscreens; other applications include mirrors and frames. Glass composition is characterized by its various oxide components. Flat glass is typically composed of 70.7% SiO2; 13.3% Na2O; 9.5% calcium oxide, or lime; and 3.8% magnesium oxide, or magnesia.
