Ethane

Ethane is a naturally occurring alkane with two carbon atoms. Ethane is extracted from natural gas and crude oil and also occurs as a byproduct of many refinery conversion processes. Extracted ethane is utilized mainly as a feedstock to produce ethylene. Ethane that is not extracted remains part of natural gas.
