Titanium Dioxide

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a dark-colored mineral that, with further processing, becomes a white, opaque powder. TiO2 is the brightest white pigment with the highest opacity. Its inherent characteristics make it suitable to impart whiteness and opacity to paints, plastics, and paper. Around 90% of titanium dioxide is used as a pigment in the manufacture of paints, plastics, paper, and fiber where, in addition to being a nontoxic whitener, it also provides UV and chemical resistance. The wide range of end applications for pigment include: architectural coatings, automotive coatings, laminates, plastic pipes and packaging, inks, clothing, sunscreen, toothpaste, and makeup.
