Sodium Sesquicarbonate

Sodium Sesquicarbonate

Sodium sesquicarbonate is a double salt of sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate. The mineral Trona is an impure form of sodium sesquicarbonate. Trona is mined and then calcinated to produce impure soda ash, which is then purified by dissolving, filtering, and evaporating to precipitate sodium carbonate monohydrate crystals, which are dried and usually transformed into dense soda ash.
