2-Ethylhexyl Acrylate (2-EHA)

2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) is an acylate ester formed from 2-Ethylhexanol and acrylic acid. The main commodity acrylate esters are n-butyl, 2-ethylhexyl, methyl, and ethyl acrylate, in order of decreasing commercial importance. Polymers based on commodity acrylate esters, either as straight acrylics with methyl methacrylate (MMA) or combined with other monomers such as vinyl acetate or ethylene, are widely used in coatings, adhesives, textiles, polishes, and impact modifiers. Smaller quantities of other acrylate esters are also produced for specialized applications.
