1,2-butylene oxide is also known as 1,2 Epoxybutane. It is produced by the oxidation of 1-butene. Uses include making polymers, plasticizers, surfactants, and pharmaceuticals as well as being a stabilizer for chlorinated solvents. 1,2-butylene oxide undergoes the usual reactions of other epoxides.
