Dewey Johnson

Dewey has two master’s degrees in environmental engineering & business management, respectively. He has enjoyed a distinguished career with Eastman Chemical Company across multiple roles and functions for 1.5 decades. In 2009, he joined Chemical Market Associates Incorporated (CMAI) and has been in the chemical market intelligence and research space ever since. From the acquisition of CMAI by the erstwhile IHS Markit to the present acquisition by Dow Jones, Dewey has been in senior leadership positions within the organization and has a deep understanding of the business.

Dewey has worked extensively with chemical industry stakeholders across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, covering industry leadership, the financial sector, and policymakers. Dewey has led multiple engagements with chemical industry clients globally in strategy development and execution, analysis of chemical markets and business portfolios, and M&A due diligence.

Dewey is a frequent lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the UVA Darden School of Management, and the SUNY Albany School of Public Policy. He is based in Houston, Texas, United States of America.

Nick Kovics

Nick Kovics Vice President, Global Chemical Research Lead & Inorganic Chemicals Team Lead Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS

Nick Kovics is the Vice President of the Global Inorganics team at Chemical Market Analytics.

Nick Kovics serves in dual leadership roles at Chemical Market Analytics, where he is Vice President and Head of Chemical Research as well as the Inorganic Chemicals Team Lead. He brings over 25 years of global experience in the chemical industry to the organization.

Nick was promoted to Head of Chemical Research in 2025 and now oversees the Plastics & Polymers, Aromatics & Fibers, Olefins, Inorganic Chemicals, and Syngas value chains. Prior to this role, he held several leadership positions within Chemical Market Analytics’ Inorganics practice, including responsibility for the Chlor-alkali, Bleaching Chemicals, and Battery Materials advisory services.

Before joining Chemical Market Analytics, Nick held various technical, commercial, and financial roles across the broader chemical and energy sectors. He began his career as a Process engineer in the chlor-alkali sector at Canadian Occidental, then moved into the energy industry with Schlumberger Canada as a field engineer in cementing and hydraulic fracturing Services. He later transitioned into the emerging hydrogen fuel cell sector, spending a decade in technical, commercial, and corporate finance roles. Nick subsequently returned to the Electrochemical industry with Canexus (now Chemtrade Logistics), where he held commercial leadership positions in chlor-alkali and sodium chlorate marketing.

Originally from Canada, Nick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from Simon Fraser University. He is both a Canadian Professional Engineer and a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant. Nick has lived in Houston, Texas, since joining Chemical Market Analytics in 2017.

Sanjay Shah

Sanjay Shah is an Executive Director of the consulting team at Chemical Market Analytics (by OPIS, a Dow Jones Company).

Sanjay is responsible for leading project execution, guiding market and commercial analytics assignments, and building and developing consulting teams. He has around 25 years of experience in bespoke consulting in chemical, petrochemical, refining and energy sectors gained through a range of functional and management roles with Worley Consulting and Mott MacDonald.

With a strong record of delivering business and project performance and developing consulting teams, Sanjay’s consulting experience is primarily focused on the chemical and petrochemical sectors with an emphasis on market/pricing analysis, commercial, strategy, M&A due diligence and financial analysis carried out through single client studies for corporates, governments, investors, financial institutions and multi-lateral agencies in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.

Sanjay’s experience in the market, pricing and commercial analysis include developing integrated market supply-demand and pricing models and comprehensive financial and economic scenario models covering a wide range of commodity chemicals, petrochemicals (including steam cracker, PDH, MTO/MTP plants), refineries, GTL plants and gas distribution projects.

Before consulting, Sanjay gained a strong industrial and technical background through his experience in R&D, production, and marketing in a large chemical manufacturing unit. He holds a postgraduate degree in organic chemistry and business administration and is a certified management consultant.

Sanjay is based in London, United Kingdom.

Harry Chapman

Harry Chapman Senior Analyst Chemical Market Analytics

Harry Chapman is the Senior Analyst on the Soda Ash team as part of the Inorganics team. Since joining the company in 2024, he has provided continuous support for soda ash research and analytics.

Harry focuses on market research, regularly contributing updates and analysis of market changes for all regions of the world along the soda ash chain. His contributions extend to authoring sections of the Global Soda Ash Monthly report and supplement and ensuring clients receive up-to-date and in-depth insight into the industry. 

Prior to joining Chemical Market Analytics, Harry gained more than a year and half of valuable industrial experience post-graduation. During this time, he worked for Wychem, a division of Ascensus Specialties, where he played a pivotal role in the production of fine chemicals for pharmaceutical, electronics and specialized applications.

Mr. Chapman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of East Anglia. He is currently based out of the London office.

Cristian Triana

Cristian Triana joined Chemical Market Analytics in September 2023. He focuses on caustic soda and potassium hydroxide market discovery and analysis in the expansive EMEA region, employing rigorous assessment and industry expertise to drive insights.

Cristian Triana conducts market research through direct and indirect client interactions, delivering presentations, and assessing market dynamics for caustic soda and KOH in Southern Europe, Turkey, and Africa. He manages the World Analysis responsibilities, econometrics, and supply/demand dynamics and develops unique analytical approaches that benefit clients.

For almost seven years, Cristian held the position of Senior Applications Engineer within the Energy and Chemicals Business Unit at Siemens Digital Industries Software. In this capacity, he provided technical guidance and solutions to clients throughout the EMEA region, assisting them in crafting robust flowsheet simulations. These simulations were designed to boost profitability, lower energy usage, and address gas emissions, in line with Net Zero objectives.

Dr. Triana earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from The National University of Colombia, followed by a Master’s degree focusing on ethanol production. He then pursued a PhD at University College London, specializing in the simulation and optimization of ethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass using computer-aided process engineering tools such as gPROMS Process.

Alex Strogen

Alex Strogen Chief Commercial Officer Port Of Vancouver USA

Alex Strogen is based in Vancouver, Washington and serves as Chief Commercial Officer at the Port of Vancouver USA, where he leads maritime marketing strategy, marine cargo development, industrial recruitment, customer service, and relationship-building to promote the port and domestic and international trade. He relocated to Vancouver in 2018 from Greenville, South Carolina, where he served as Senior Global Category Leader for GE Global Operations, managing global ocean transport sourcing and port operations.

Denny Sabah

Denny Sabah Head of Business Development Clarksons

Denny Sabah is Head of Business Development at Clarksons, the world’s largest shipbroker.

For the first 10 years of his career, Sabah was a mining research analyst and trading strategist. During this time, he had seats on the statistics committees of the International Chrome Association and the International Manganese Institute. He joined Clarksons in 2015 as a freight analyst, before setting up their Business Development function. Following a two-year stint working for a major Canadian shipowner, CSL, running their business development and diversification drive, he returned to Clarksons in 2023 to seek out new clients and new commercial opportunities for the dry cargo department.

Sabah has an Economics degree from the Universities of Birmingham and the Sorbonne in Paris, and a Master’s degree in International Politics from the University of London.

Rock Bian

With over 20 years of experience, Rock is an essential resource within the business for understanding and insights into the soda ash sector of the inorganic chemical industry.

Marguerite Morrin is the Executive Director of Soda Ash Research at Chemical Market Analytics (CMA). Marguerite launched the Global Soda Ash Market Advisory Service (MAS) in 2008. Before launching the soda ash MAS, she held various roles in the Inorganics value chain, including coverage of the European chlor-alkali and vinyls markets, where she helped develop MAS.

Marguerite’s area of focus is the Soda Ash Market Advisory Service. With over 30 years of research experience in the chemicals sector, Marguerite is a key CMA resource for analysis and insights into soda ash markets. She works with the global soda ash team to understand and track soda ash market developments, and to provide CMA clients with insight and critical analytics that facilitate decision-making. Marguerite also organizes the CMA annual World Soda Ash Conference.

Hasan holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from Istanbul University and an MBA from Yeditepe University. He joined the company in 2021 and resides in London, UK.
